Writing with Music

In class when we were writing while the music was being played and kept changing I found it really frustrating because every time a couple of seconds in the song would give me a good inspiration but then the continuation of the song playing really distracted me and made me lose my train of thought. It almost seemed like for me if I had listened to one song for a minute or so and then turned it off that it would give me a good idea to start writing about without distracting me when I'm trying to write. I liked that it always kept me writing I never felt like I would run out of some thing to write about but it seemed like what I was writing was very disconnected. I may used this exercise by listening for a bit then coming up with one line and stopping and listening more and coming up with a completely unrelated line. So this would give me very raw lines to incorporate into a poem but it definitely didn't give me a base for a poem.

Music definitely effects my emotions the most so it really gives me good imagery to write about but to listen to 10 minutes of music my thought and emotions change too quickly to write about each of them and then it just becomes irritating to pick what idea came to my mind to write about and which one not to.
